Why is family portrait photography so important?
You may be like most people who have thought about family portrait photography, but never decided on a professional photo shoot. I hear it all the time: we are too busy; I need to get my hair done; my hair roots are visible; when will I lose another 10 kg; it is very difficult to get everyone together right now
I’ve heard this many times. And then, year after year, nothing happens. Friends, unfortunately, this is not how it works!
I want to share with you three important reasons why family portrait photography should become an important part of your life.
1. Document how we grow and change
Too often, we forget about our past because we are too busy building the future.
Our children are growing up too fast! You don’t have time to blink, and they are already packing their bags and leaving home, and then starting their own family. As children grow up, the annual family portrait is a great way to document the progress that each of them is making year after year. After all, as they grow up, they go out on their life path and, as a rule, leave their father’s house. In the era of globalization and the possibility of living in almost any country in the world, the good old days when all family members lived within a few kilometers of each other are long gone. So make the most of the time you spend together while you still have it by taking family photos with a professional photographer. This is the best way to remember those wonderful moments that you spent together.
2. Everything happens in life
We may not want to admit it, but family composition can change without warning, and loved ones can leave.
Now there is no reason to give up the opportunity to capture life together. You never know when your last chance to take a family photo will be. Over the past 15 years of working as a photographer, I have seen many of my friends and relatives lose loved ones. We often don’t realize the importance of family photos until it’s too late. Many of us go looking for family photos when we lose a loved one, and it’s only natural that we look at our family photos to help us remember. It is these photos that will bring a smile to our faces and help us remember the person who is no longer around at any time.
3. Reviving memories
Family photos or portraits can transport you to a specific point in time.
To remind you not only of what you looked like, but also of how you felt at that moment. They take us back to the past. It’s a great way to remember. They are also part of our heritage. In the coming years, grandchildren and great-grandchildren may someday ask to see family photos, and wouldn’t it be sad if there were few or no family photos at all? The photos bring the family back together as they look back on their lives.
Life is busy, and it is impossible to “find” time for a photo shoot, time needs to be “done”. Don’t let your life go by and look back, wondering why you didn’t take the time to take family photos. Don’t make excuses or put it off until later. You can’t go back in time for a repeat, so don’t set yourself up for a “I wish this photo shoot had happened” situation. If you’ve been thinking about making a family portrait, do it. Do this for your children and grandchildren. Your children won’t notice a few extra pounds, your forehead crease, which you will notice, but we guarantee that they will be disappointed when they become adults, and they won’t have family photos to share with their children, and they, in turn, with their own, and so on.
Why am I here so thoroughly “chewing” all this, as if in the first class? Because I want people to stop and think about the importance of family photos and family history… how else can we pass on our memories from generation to generation?!
It is family photos that connect us with those who were before. By allowing your children to see your photos from the past and present, they become connected to their own story. They know the family members and ancestors who came before them and helped shape the world and the people they see today. Because over time, it is the documented memories of loved ones that we will cherish the most. Family photos can convey feelings and emotions that cannot be expressed in words.
I urge families not to miss the opportunity to invite a photographer to take a family portrait in any case. Appreciate and celebrate those events that are often taken for granted.
I am always very happy to make beautiful and emotional shots for my clients.
